Hi
Thanks for being a premium member of Geeks on Tour.
How would you like to have special buttons on your phone that do exactly what you want? One button that will call Mom? One button that will
navigate to a specified destination? One button that will scan a document to .pdf and upload it to cloud storage? They're called "widgets" and that's what episode 139 is all about.
- If you have an iPhone 6s or newer, try pressing hard on your camera icon. You should get an option to take a selfie, or a slo-motion video.
- If you have an Android phone, try long-pressing on a blank spot of a home page
and you should see a button called Widgets show up. Tap that and you'll see all sorts of options for special purpose buttons.
Widgets are shortcuts, they are not essential to using your phone, but you may be surprised at how useful some of them can be. Chris demonstrates one widget that displays links to all your Chrome bookmarks - right on your home screen. Episode 139 shows you how.
As a premium member, you get written notes of the episode. Here is the printable (pdf file) written class notes for episode 139.
You can get the show notes from any other episode on our website, under Weekly Class. If you'd like to download the entire 45 minute video for episode 139 (it's 192MB) for offline viewing, click here.
Questions?
Join us on Thursday for Gabbing with the Geeks. We hold an informal Facebook Live session to discuss our classes. We will review episode 139, but we're open to questions on anything.
