Hi
Smartphones save lives. Or at least they can, if you are prepared. At the very least, you should use your phone's facilities to specify one or more emergency contacts:
On Apple iOS devices:
- Open the Health App (icon is a red heart)
- Tap Medical ID
- Fill in the info
- Turn on switch for "Show when Locked"
On Android devices:
- Settings
- Lock Screen, Contact Info
OR
- About, Emergency Info
Once you've done this, anyone can pick up your phone and turn it on then view the Lock screen. With the Android option #2, they'll see the emergency contact number right there. For the other options, when someone tries to get past the lock screen (assuming you have security) they will see a dialer and a button for Emergency, tap that to see your emergency contacts.
That's the quick tip. Our 45 minute class gives a demonstration of changing this setting, plus how to make an SOS call or turn on Emergency Mode, watch Episode 163 of What Does This Button Do?
Note: the show starts with a quick tip about setting the wallpaper for your lock screen to your emergency contact info - kind of a do-it-yourself emergency app!
