Hi
You know that we use Google Photos as our primary storage system for all our photos. But, what if something happened to Google Photos? Or, more likely, what if I deleted some photos from Google Photos and changed my mind later? I think it is important to have a second copy, and I'm lazy - so it needs to be an automatic process. When I take photos using my phone, they are automatically uploaded to both the Google Photos cloud, AND the Microsoft OneDrive cloud. I
can sleep easy at night :-)
You need to have a Microsoft account. Just go to OneDrive.com. If you already have a Microsoft account (if you have a Windows computer, you probably have an account) sign in. If not, sign up for a new account.
Free account: you get 5GB of storage
We recommend buying Office 365 ($70/yr) to get 1TeraByte of storage

For OneDrive to back up your phone's photos:
- Install the OneDrive app on your phone - it is available for iOS in the App Store and for Android in the Play Store.
- Make sure it is signed in to your Microsoft account
- Turn on Camera Upload setting: tap the Me icon, then Settings, then Camera Upload - turn it on
- That's it. From now on, photos taken with that device will be copied (uploaded) to your OneDrive account.
Episode 100 of What Does This Button Do? Discusses the photo backup procedure above and demos several other features of OneDrive.
