Typing faster and easier on your smartphone

You use the keyboard on your phone every day. Do you ever wish it worked better? If you take a little bit of time to review our tips, you might be happily surprised that there are ways to type faster and easier on your phone. In Episode 222 of our "What Does This Button Do?" show, we demonstrate 12 tips for Samsung (Android) phones and
12 tips for iPhones. Here are just 2 of them:
On a Samsung phone
- Swipe to type. Instead of tapping key by key, just rub your finger across the keys making sure to touch all the letters in the word you want, then lift your finger. It will determine the word you typed and enter a space.
- Make your own shortcuts (like macros) Settings, Smart typing, text shortcuts. Example: Shortcut = gotc, Expanded phrase: = GeeksOnTour.com From now on every time you type gotc and then press a space, or a period, it will be expanded to GeeksOnTour.com. You can even do this will full paragraphs of text, like a legal disclaimer.
On an iPhone
- Shortcut for numbers and punctuation: longpress on the 123 key and drag to a number or character. When you let go the letters will come back.
- Make your own shortcuts (like macros) Settings, Smart typing, text shortcuts. Shortcut = gotc, Expanded phrase: = GeeksOnTour.com From now on every time you type gotc and then press a space, or a period, it will be expanded to GeeksOnTour.com. You can even do this will full paragraphs of text, like a legal disclaimer.
