Hi folks,
We're currently en route to Cartagena, Colombia where we will board our new home - The Villa Vie Odyssey cruise ship. We
will probably not be on YouTube today, so I'm sending your Weekly Tech Tip below. That said, if circumstances allow, we might make a quick live appearance as we get on to the ship. It's always fun to bring you along on our adventures. Be sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel and click the option to receive notifications - then you'll know if we go
live in Cartagena.
Map view of your photos in Google Photos
Google Photo’s “Your Map” is another way to find your memories. You find it on the Collections tab. If you don’t have a Collections tab,
then it’s on the Search tab, the one with a magnifying glass. Then, it will be the first tile in the Places section. This is only available on mobile devices. Tap on the map. Once the map is onscreen, you have a split screen with the map on top and photos on the bottom. You can drag the center line to adjust the amount of space given to each. Tap a color, heat-map, on the map and see the photos that were taken there. If there are a lot of them they will be in date order.
This is a great way to find photos when the only thing you remember about them is the location where you took them. If you don't see any heat maps, then your photos don't have their location recorded. Watch the video below to see how to make your phone's camera record the location.

Finding more photos in the same location as current photo
Another way to use the map is when you are already viewing one photo. You can swipe up to view the info of that one photo and see the map of where it was taken. If you then tap on the map, it will take you to the “Your Map” view where you can see other photos taken in the same location. You can then pinch and zoom the map to look at other
locations.
