Hi This week we recorded episode 155 of the What Does This Button Do show. It was all about installing and managing smartphone apps. We
also gave a tip about doing an iPhone feature called "Offloading" apps, and we spotlighted an app that can replace the Android camera.
One of the things we cover in this episode is the importance of checking the date that an app was last updated before install a new app. Try this now: iOS - Open App Store, tap the magnifying app to
Search,
- type an app you're looking for, e.g. "Coverage" in the search bar at top (this is an app that shows cell service coverage)
- Tap on the app icon to get into the description of the app (don't tap Get until after reading description
- Scroll till you see a link for "Version History" The date is was last updated will be the top
entry.
Android - Open the Play Store, type an app you're looking for in the top search bar (where it says, "Google Play") e.g. type Camera to see a list of camera apps
- Tap on Camera MX (our app of the week) to open up info about it.
- Just below the description "For better photos and videos" tap the Read
more link
- Scroll down to the very bottom of the information and you'll see a panel of stats, including "Updated on: "
