What's up with Jim and Chris - the Geeks?

For most of October we were on the Viking Neptune cruise ship starting in Fort Lauderdale, going thru the Panama Canal, and ending in Los Angeles. Read more about the trip here.

Tomorrow, Sunday 11-10 at 2pm Eastern: Watch our video of going thru the canal and learn how we used timelapse video on our phone and the ClipChamp video editor to make it.

Tutorials: We recorded a few more videos this past month, see #885-892 on our All Videos Page. We also did one of our Button Show, Live Streams from the ship, and 1 episode of Fun with Photos.

Your Location History Timeline in Google Is Changing. Here’s what you need to do NOW

Google has changed its policies about Timeline and it will now only be available on your phone. You do need to select some options in order for this to take effect. Whether you choose the options or not, the Timeline will be gone from the web at a specified date. For me, that date is Dec 8, 2024. If you don’t choose the options on your phone app, you may lose some or all of your location history. If you’ve been using Timeline and want to keep all your data, follow the 4 steps outlined in this article.

How to Get Editable Text from a Newspaper Clipping

I was feeling nostalgic as I looked at the framed newspaper clippings on the wall above my desk. It's an article from the Miami Herald Business Monday from January 1993 all about the Computer Training business called Computer Savvy that my Mom and I owned and operated from 1983 - 1996. I love having that newspaper clipping, but it's getting awfully yellow and hard to read. I thought it would be nice to have the complete text of that newspaper clipping here on our website. There are actually many ways to do this, I'm going to tell you about 3. Using Google Keep, using Google Photos app, and using a browser on your computer.

Using Google Maps with Live View Walking Directions.

When you walk around a strange city and use Google Maps, it can be difficult to see exactly where you're supposed to go. If you turn on LIVE View, you will actually SEE exactly where to go. Check it out in this video.
