Geeks on Tour Announces Membership Program with New Photo Story, Blogger, and Vista videos

Published: Wed, 07/09/08

Hello ,

www.geeksontour.comIf you visit www.geeksontour.com today, the first thing you'll notice is a new look to our home page.  And, spotlighted right at the top, is a tutorial video on our favorite new feature of Windows Vista. If you have Vista, you need to use this feature! While the tutorial is in the spotlight, it will be free for everyone.  To have access to all the videos we ask that you become a member (details below.) Be sure to check back every week because we will change the video that is in the spotlight. We will also send you a short email to tell you when we change it.

Photo Story 3 Tutorial Videos
And, speaking of videos, there's a whole new series on making slide shows with Photo Story 3.  Many of you have been waiting for these I know! Photo Story 3 is a free program you can download from Microsoft.  It will take your travel photos and add motion, music, narration and transitions to make a movie.  Put that movie on a DVD and give it to your friends.  Let us show you how.

Windows Vista Tutorial Videos
The spotlighted video is from our new series of tutorial videos on Windows Vista.  As of today, there are five videos, with many more on the way.

New Blogger Videos
Check the blogger page, you'll see a new video about adding a photo to your blog header and adding a link list to your sidebar.

Membership Program
Our new membership program not only lets members access all our video tutorials for a full year, but you can also ask questions in our Members Q&A forum. Either Jim or Chris promise to answer each post personally. We may even answer your question with a new video!

Good News! The majority of our website is still free. All of the articles, the newsletter and all of the newsletter archives, and there are many free sample tutorial videos. When you request a tutorial that is reserved for members, you will be asked to log in. The spotlighted video on the home page will be free as well.

Join today, and the cost of a one-year membership is $29, it will increase to $39 on September 1, 2008. And, unlike some online memberships, ours doesn't automatically renew at the end of 12 months. That way you can evaluate whether you want to sign up for another year. We're confident though that you're going to be so thrilled with our tutorials and personal Q&A forum that you'll sign up again--and again!

Why are we making our website a membership site?  Because we have a lot more videos we want to make, and a lot of ideas for making the website even more helpful.  That all takes time and money.

For example, I want to enter all the articles from the newsletter and elsewhere into a searchable database.  I want to create a Frequently Asked Questions page that points you to the different resources on the website that will answer each question.  Already, we have so many videos that people have a hard time finding the right one that will answer their question.  And, the forum!  Oh, the ideas we have for the forum!  How about virtual classrooms that will lead you through lessons on Picasa, Blogger, Vista, Google Maps etc.  Read or watch the lesson, do the exercise, ask questions, have discussions, get feedback.

These things will never happen unless we're making money from the website.  Support your Geeks and we'll support you! Join today!
