Motosat DatastormFor the month of December, we've stayed put in Fort Lauderdale, Florida - our old home town. The picture was taken at Lion Country Safari, a drive-thru zoo that has been a major attraction in Palm Beach County for 40 years. There is a very nice KOA on the same property and we took a mini-trip to stay there for a couple of days. It makes for interesting dreams to have Lions roaring just outside your motorhome! And, they have really good Wi-Fi. For more photos, see our Picasa Web Album.

So you don't miss anything, here's a list of other articles we've posted this month:
Picasa Tip: Nested Folders
Picasa 3 and Video Files
Internet by Tethered Cell Phone
Picasa Tip: Your photos as Screensaver
Computing in French
Picasa Tip: Web Albums default settings
Extra Charges for Cellular Internet
And, be sure to watch our new video sampler at GOT Class?

Google Earth - View the Road Ahead

Google Earth can help you decide which route to take. It can give you a preview of what a road is like. For example, you might see the tight switchbacks on Highway 89A north of Sedona, AZ and decide to go another way. I wrote about this quite a while ago in our 'Articles' blog and was reminded of it recently when the Beaver Ambassador Club's newsletter picked up on the idea and wrote about it in their 'Beaver Tales' newsletter: Google Fly-over. The satellite imagery is a bit clearer now:

And there are now photos you can look at too. Any place you see a blue square, that represents a photo. Just click on it.

If you don't see the blue squares, you need to turn on the Panoramio layer in the Geographic Web group of the Layers section.

Backup your Favorites

What would you do if you lost that long list of all the websites that you love to visit? If you have a backup, you can get them back or transfer them to your new computer. One way to make a backup is by 'Exporting' them all to a separate HTML file.

Internet Explorer :

Import and Export
Next
Export Favorites

Next
Choose a location
Next
Finish

Firefox:

Organize Bookmarks ...
File

choose a location
OK

When you need to use your backup - use the Import command.

Searching for Articles on Geeks on Tour

I've received several emails lately that went something like: "I remember reading an article by you that told how to ... and now I can't find it. Can you direct me?"

One way you can search is right on www.GeeksonTour.com. Notice at the bottom of the left sidebar, you'll see a box labeled, "Search this Site."

Search this Site

Just type a term and click the 'Site Search' button. You will see a search results page where all the results are somewhere on the Geeks on Tour website.

Then, there's the Articles and Links Blog. Little by little, I'm making sure that everything we've ever written is now located as a separate article on that blog. This way, we can use categories and tags to organize all the articles and make them very easy to find. Check it out!

That's all for now. We hope you learned something. Your next issue will be next month. Any questions, please email us. If you like this newsletter, please forward it on to your friends! If you received this issue forwarded by a friend you can subscribe to get your own copy delivered to your in box - it's free.
