In This Newsletter
You'll notice a few differences with this issue - we hope you like it. We've updated the design a bit - adding some color and a left sidebar with standard links to our Geeks on Tour stuff. We've also changed the way we present the main articles. To keep the newsletter shorter, you will just see the opening paragraph or so, then, if it interests you, you can click on a link to read the full article. That takes you to our 'Computer Tips for Travelers' blog where you can read the full article *and* leave a comment as well - thus converting this newsletter into a two-way conversation.
- iPad: First we have a Guest post by Ken Wiseman of RV Navigator. He is a self-proclaimed tech junkie who bought the iPad as soon as it was released Read this article to see if he thinks this is a piece of equipment that all RVers should have, or a useless gadget to complicate our lives.
- Our Website: Next, learn how you can now follow all our blogs and even Facebook posts, just by going to our Home Page
- Geocaching by Droid: We are now adding Geocaching to the ever-growing list of the fun things we can do with our Droid cell phones. What? You don't know about geocaching? Read on!
- Blog RSS Feeds: Last, but definitely not least, this article explains the ever-present RSS Feed. What it is, why they're important, and how you can use them. This is important stuff if you have a blog, but even more important if you read blogs!

Is the iPad an RVers' Accessory? |
Gizmos, gadgets and "must have" accessories fill the vendor halls of any RV show. Having been burned many times by the latest solution to my perceived problems, I am skeptical of the latest and greatest whatever. But, of course, the RV Navigator (rvnavigator.com) could not pass up the iPad, the latest device from the technology world that is ready to slice and dice all of your technology needs. Before proceeding, let me tell you that I bought my 3 day old iPad after standing in line at the store on April 3rd for the retail price. As the author, I am totally independent and have received nothing in exchange for this article or my opinion. However, in addition to being a tech junkie, I feel an obligation to test this stuff for suitability for the RVing public (or at least that's what I tell the co-pilot). It is in that spirit that I offer my opinion.

We started Geocaching several years ago, but we had a very old hand held GPS. It was not very accurate and that made it too difficult to find the caches. We soon tired of the effort. Now with our Droid 'app phone' it appears we're back in business.
In case you don't know what Geocaching is, let me give you a brief overview. It's a high-tech game played by people all over the world where one player hides a Cache (what's in it varies) and records the lattitude and longitude of the hiding place. This information is entered on the website Geocaching.com where millions of players look up available Caches in their area and make a note of the coordinates. Then you go on an adventure to find the Cache. A handheld GPS device is a neccessary tool for the hunt. When (If!) you find the specified Cache you should find a log book with it where you record the fact that you indeed found this particular Cache. Then, you put it back where you found it so the next player can have the same fun.

What is a Blog RSS Feed and Why You Want One. |
Also known as an RSS Feed, a Blog Feed is the raw post data straight from the Blog's database. If you look at the example below, you'll see that the Blog includes a lot of page elements besides the actual post. The red background, the Blog's title, and all the content in the right sidebar all come from the Blogger Template. The 'Feed' of a blog is *just* the content of each individual post.
