April started with a beautiful stay in northern Florida. We parked the RV at a friend's property just east of Gainesville while Chris attended a writing workshop. A special treat was the setting of the workshop on the shore of Lake Santa Fe. Then we had the last rally of our winter season - The Roadtrek Camping and Technology rally. For the last two weeks of the month we came back home for doctor, dentist, and RV maintenance visits.

We had a flat tire on the motorhome while on the turnpike headed home. We felt an unusual vibration, and Jim had already started slowing down when our Tire Tracker confirmed that the left front tire had lost pressure. The worst part was that there are very narrow shoulders on the turnpike, at least where we were. It was a bit scary to feel the RV getting rocked by the air blast when a big truck went by. The best part was that, with cell phone technology, and
Good Sam Emergency Road Service, all we had to do was sit tight in our comfortable motorhome while the problem was fixed for us and we were back on our way. Well, all I had to do was sit tight! Jim helped get the spare out of its hiding place and handed tools to the guy from the road service. A second road service truck came and parked behind us with the guy standing on the road and waving traffic over to the far lane while our tire was being changed. Before buying one new tire, Jim checked the dates on all the tires, then he called our friends Roger Marble of RV Tire Safety and Walter Cannon of RVSafety.com
. With all the information gathered, we decided it was time to get 6 new tires. $3,000 later, we're ready for our summer on the road!
