April in Florida with Family |
Here's 'Gramps' playing Wii with AJ - after agreeing to babysit the grandkids for the afternoon. The kids like coming to the RV. They can climb up into the cab over area,
and of course we have plenty of high tech toys to keep them entertained. April was our last month in Florida. We had a couple of 'gigs' teaching 'Cloud Computing' at computer clubs - one in Sarasota and another in Port St. Lucie. It is such a big topic! I'm sure the club that gave us 2 hours for the presentation got a lot more out of it than the one with only an hour on their agenda. Then we spent 3 full weeks in Fort
Lauderdale and moved Chris' Mom to a smaller assisted living facility. You can read all about it on our personal blog - including how we set up a touchscreen Windows 8 computer with single tap to Skype call us. There's even a couple of reading suggestions for others of you who are caring for parents with dementia. Now we
are in Georgia, on our way to the FMCA International Area Rally in Lebanon, TN. We are on our Summer Tour! See our April photo album for all our pictures from the month, including the beautiful Stephen Foster State Park where we stayed.
By the way, our pictures, Blogs, Web Albums, maps, and videos are all examples of what we teach. If you're a traveler, we teach you how to plan, preserve, and share your travels. It makes the experience that much more enjoyable to get creative on the computer and share your travels with friends and family.

Gabbing with the Geeks |
Come into our living room and sit a spell while we chat about where we are, what we're doing, and what's coming up in the world of Geeks on Tour. "Gabbing with the Geeks" is part of what we're doing on our Youtube channel.
There's lots more to watch there too - if you 'subscribe' to the Youtube Channel, you'll see whatever new items we've posted in your "What to Watch" list.
Another example is the
recent Technology for Travelers video. This is a recording of a seminar we did remotely for a California computer club. It's a one hour overview of everything we teach. You could even play this video for your club! The Youtube videos are all free. To see our most recent Member Tutorial Videos, click the Read More link.

Delete Pictures from your Phone. |
Now that we're all getting so good at taking pictures with our cellphones, a new problem is arising. You can't take any more pictures because the phone is full!
I know you don't want to lose your pictures, so the first step is to copy them to some other location, either to a computer, or to an
account on the Internet - in 'the cloud.' There are several ways to do this. This article will tell you how . ...

Backup your Blog |
Do you have a blog? I hope so! If you have more than just a few entries, you may have wondered, "what if something happens to files on the Internet?" What if you tried to view your blog one day and it was blocked, or something was missing? Or simply, what if you neglect your blog for a few years and then
can't find it? We've been keeping the GeeksOnTour.blogspot.com blog since 2003 and we have nearly 2,000 posts! This blog/journal is very precious to us - we would hate to lose it! So, how do we back it up? Unfortunately, there is no one perfect way to back up a blog. Because of its hybrid, multimedia, nature, you can't get one backup that can do all things, so you need to know the purpose for your backup. This article will teach you about the different methods. ...

How do we Get Internet on the Road? |
This has always been the number 1 question we get asked and the answer has changed several times since we hit the road in 2003. The current answer is that we use a smartphone as a WiFi hotspot and our computers connect to that. If you have an Android or an iPhone, you can do this too. We also have an
iPad with an AT&T month to month account. We can use that as a WiFi hotspot too. This article will explain how its done ....
