Geeks in April

April was a travel and work month. Here is our April Photo Album. We started in California, presenting to the Laguna Woods Computer Club, then a drive across the country - and the SKP ACRE Rally in Sevierville, TN. We also had an unplanned stop on I-40 in Arizona. The RV broke down near Seligman, AZ and was at the shop for 5 days. We took the opportunity for a train ride and overnight at the Grand Canyon! We got lemons. We made lemonade. We posted 4 new episodes of our "What Does This Button Do?"  We will be live this Sunday 5/14 with Episode #117 on Chromebooks
Next month we're on vacation in Europe! Chris is taking a writer's workshop in Tuscany, Italy, then we're riding trains to Croatia to visit Jim's ancestral home in Vinkovci. You may not hear from us much ... then again, if we have good Internet, you may hear from us a lot. After all, we are all about Technology for Travelers. We may find a lot to say about technology in Italy and Croatia. Keep a watch on our Facebook page and our Youtube channel - we may go live at any time!

By the way, our pictures, Blogs, Web Albums, maps, and videos are all examples of what we teach.  You can learn how to plan, preserve, and share your travels (or your life.)  It makes the experience that much more enjoyable to get creative and share pictures, maps, stories, and movies with friends and family. Check out our Learning Library of Tutorial Videos, just go to GeeksOnTour.com and click the menu for Tutorial Videos. There are plenty of free videos in addition to our members-only content to whet your appetite for learning.
We did it! We Downsized

With a townhouse in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, we are not fulltimers any more. So we don't need a big motorhome to live in like we have for the last 14 years.

We've always loved the Roadtrek brand. Now we're owners!

The Perfect To Do List?

If I write it down, I do it. At least eventually! I need my lists. I’ve tried so many ToDo list programs and apps, but I always end up going back to paper and pen. The apps either have too many features, or not enough. I’ve now found one that is just right.

There are only 3 things I want from a ToDo list:

  1. To easily write something down, enter a new list item
  2. To cross an item off my list and have it go away. But, I like it if it is still there somewhere so I can see what I’ve accomplished.
  3. To re-order the list as priorities change, and I want to do that by dragging it – not by changing a date due. No dates! Just list items.

Member Spotlight: Vicki Wassenhove
Vicki gets things done. She was very important to Geeks on Tour because she introduced us to computer clubs. After contacting us about presenting to her club, Vicki found out that pinning us down is like nailing jello to a tree! But she persisted. And, we're glad she did. Not only did we present to her group, but she arranged seminars with other groups and even a TV interview. Read more about this dynamic lady and find out how this right-brained art teacher entered the world of computers and digital photography. Thanks to our first member, Gail West, for writing the article.

Friends and Google Photos
Chris' long-time friend, Melinda, does not share Chris' passion for technology. Melinda loves horses, the outdoors, and all things nature.
But, when they get together, Melinda can't escape! She's forced to learn about Google Photos. :-)
Melinda writes this story ...
